Blackout to Hit Police, Army Barracks, and Others Over Unpaid Debts

 



The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced plans to disconnect power to customers with outstanding bills starting Monday. This decision comes in a bid to ensure timely payment of electricity bills, crucial for maintaining and enhancing the company’s infrastructure.

 

In a statement titled "Notice of Power Disconnection for Customers with Outstanding Bills," AEDC listed several affected entities, including the Nigerian Army Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force Headquarters, Defence Headquarters, and Nigerian Police Force. The statement highlighted that the disconnections would begin on June 3, 2024.

 

AEDC emphasized the importance of timely bill payments to sustain efficient and reliable service delivery. "We urge all customers with debts to pay all outstanding bills before the deadline to avoid service interruption," the statement read.

 

Other affected customers include the Federal Capital Development Authority, Kogi State Government, Niger State Government, Nigerian Army Barracks, Power House, SGF House I, Head of Service, Federal Ministry of Education, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Federal Ministry of Industry, Federal Ministry of Trade, Federal Ministry of Interior, Federal Ministry of Water Resources, National Stadium, Goodluck Jonathan Athletics Hall, Federal Ministry of Finance, Federal Ministry of Education, National Planning Commission (Budget), Federal Ministry of Works, and Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Abuja.

 

AEDC has made it clear that all other customers with outstanding bills will also face disconnection if payments are not made by the specified deadline.
