Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential
candidate of the Labour Party (LP) |
Reno Omokri, a socio-political activist, has accused Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), of showing allegiance to the Biafra flag.
Omokri’s
Allegations Against Peter Obi
On
Sunday, Omokri claimed that Peter Obi’s recent call for the release of Nnamdi
Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), indicates his
allegiance to the Biafra flag. Omokri stated that Obi’s actions effectively
mark the end of his presidential ambitions.
“By
calling for the release of a man who publicly urged his supporters to attack
Nigerian military and paramilitary forces, and has neither apologized nor
repented for that order, Peter Obi has shown his allegiance to the Biafra
flag,” Omokri wrote on his X page.
Obi’s Call for
Release of Detainees
Peter
Obi recently urged President Bola Tinubu’s administration to release Nnamdi
Kanu, EndSARS protesters, and other freedom fighters. Speaking to journalists
in Anambra State, Obi emphasized that protesters and freedom fighters have the
right to express their grievances through peaceful protests.

Omokri’s
Response on Social Media
Omokri
posted an image of Obi alongside the Biafra flag on his social media, declaring
that Obi’s call for Kanu’s release signifies the end of his political
aspirations. “The ‘Release Nnamdi Kanu Now’ statement by Peter Obi is the
obituary of Peter Obi’s presidential ambition,” Omokri asserted.
He
further stated, “By aligning himself with someone who incited violence against
Nigerian forces, Obi has revealed his true allegiance.”
Omokri’s Stance
on Intimidation
Omokri made it clear that he would not be intimidated by any group or individual attempting to silence him. “Anybody or group that thinks they can intimidate me from expressing my beliefs does not know me. My body does not secrete the fear hormone,” he declared.
