In the midst of a growing conflict with Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senator Ireti Kingibe, Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has urged FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to avoid creating unnecessary adversaries. Omokri emphasized the importance of Wike's support for President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election campaign instead of engaging in disputes with Kingibe.
Omokri's Caution to Wike
Omokri
advised Wike to prioritize the broader political landscape and contribute to
Tinubu’s success in the upcoming presidential election. He cautioned against
opening multiple battlefronts, particularly with Kingibe, who criticized Wike
for prioritizing infrastructure over the immediate needs of FCT residents.
Posting
on X, Omokri stated, “Wike is opening too many battlefronts. He should learn
how to pick and choose his battles. At worst, Ireti Kingibe is just an
irritant. As FCT Minister, she has minimal ability to do you any actual harm
beyond nuisance value.”
Wike's Response to Kingibe
Wike
had previously threatened that Kingibe would not return to the Senate in 2027,
reacting to her criticisms regarding his focus on infrastructural development.
However, Omokri suggested that Wike should ignore Kingibe and concentrate on
more significant political objectives.
“You
are already fighting an obstinate foe in Rivers. Why will you leave the
elephant you are carrying on your head to use your toe to kill an ant? What if
you slip and fall?” Omokri queried.

Political Implications
Omokri
also highlighted the traditional voting patterns in the FCT, noting that ruling
parties have historically struggled to secure victories in the region. He urged
Wike to focus on winning FCT votes in the 2027 election rather than engaging in
personal conflicts.
“You
are threatening her that she will not return. First of all, that is
undemocratic. But even if Wike’s threat to stop her re-election was not
undemocratic, how many ruling parties have won in the FCT? The FCT
traditionally votes for opposition parties. Buhari lost the FCT in 2015 and
2019. President Tinubu lost it in 2023. Should Wike not be more concerned about
winning FCT votes in 2027 than fighting a girl?”
Final Thoughts
Omokri concluded by advising Wike to transcend the conflict with Kingibe and focus on the larger political picture. “If you constantly make enemies everywhere you go, perhaps other people are not the problem. What is in Ireti Kingibe that you cannot transcend her by ignoring her?”
