Anambra People Tired of Unfulfilled Promises of ‘Dubai, Taiwan’ – Peter Obi’s Aide Criticizes Soludo

Valentine Ozigbo, the Special Adviser to Peter Obi, former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has criticized Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State for not fulfilling his promises to transform Anambra into a "Dubai and Taiwan." Ozigbo stated that the people of Anambra are tired of waiting for these promises to come to fruition.

Ozigbo, a former gubernatorial candidate under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2021, expressed his concerns about the state’s economic decline under Soludo’s administration. He noted that the economy has been crippled, leaving residents to struggle in poverty. Ozigbo also lamented the deteriorating security situation in the state, which has caused residents to live in constant fear and deterred people from visiting their homes.

In a post on his social media handle X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, Ozigbo accused Soludo of manipulating the Anambra State House of Assembly to amend the Anambra Electoral Act. He alleged that this move was aimed at rigging the upcoming elections and imposing the governor’s loyalists on the people to secure his re-election.

Ozigbo’s statement read: “My position on Anambra LGA Elections. In his characteristic manner of positioning himself as ‘the wisest in the room,’ Governor Soludo hastily orchestrated and pressured the State House of Assembly into amending the Anambra Electoral Act. This move is designed to facilitate his planned rigging and impose his loyalists on Ndi Anambra in his flawed re-election bid.”

Ozigbo called on the people not to be discouraged by these tactics and instead urged them to participate actively in the elections. He emphasized the need for candidates who possess the capacity, character, and compassion to bring about positive change at the grassroots level. He also mentioned the necessity of challenging some provisions of the amended act that contradict national laws and common sense.

He concluded by stating, “The Governor does not deserve another chance, and we will continue to counter his nefarious schemes at every turn.”
