Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of
Al-Nassr, has made history by setting a new record for the most goals scored in
a single Saudi Pro League season. Ronaldo's remarkable achievement came with a
brace in Al-Nassr's 4-2 victory over Al-Ittihad in their final league game of
the season.
The former Manchester United star
opened the scoring in the third minute of first-half stoppage time and doubled
the lead midway through the second half. Abdulrahman Ghareeb added a third goal
for Al-Nassr before Al-Ittihad mounted a brief comeback with two goals. A late
strike from Meshari Al-Nemer sealed the win for Al-Nassr.
Following the game, Ronaldo
expressed his joy on Instagram, stating, "I don’t follow the records, the
records follow me." His two goals in the match brought his season tally to
35, surpassing the previous record of 34 goals set by Abderrazak Hamdallah in
the 2018-19 season.
