Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, who has
excelled at Napoli over the past two seasons, is reportedly keen on a move to
the Premier League, with Arsenal as his top choice. This interest comes despite
a complicated transfer scenario, as Arsenal’s recent focus on signing a winger
may hinder their pursuit of the prolific forward.
Italian journalist Valter De Maggio
disclosed on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli that while Osimhen prefers a transfer to
Arsenal, he might explore other options, including a potential move to the
Middle East, if the North London club does not make an offer. De Maggio
emphasized Osimhen's preference for Arsenal over other clubs, such as Chelsea,
stating, “Osimhen wants the Premier League; if the offer doesn’t come, then he
would consider the Arab one.”
The complexity of the transfer is
heightened by Osimhen’s release clause, which is set at a staggering €130
million by Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, who is unwilling to
negotiate. This substantial fee, along with Arsenal’s strategic shift towards
signing a winger—possibly influenced by Kai Havertz’s recent
performances—creates a significant challenge in securing Osimhen’s services.
At 25, Osimhen has been a crucial player
for Napoli, scoring 17 goals this season following a 31-goal tally the previous
year. His impressive scoring ability has made him highly sought after in the
transfer market, attracting interest from multiple top clubs.
As the transfer window progresses, it
remains uncertain whether Arsenal will adjust their priorities to accommodate a
bid for Osimhen or if the striker will need to consider other options,
including Chelsea or even a move to Saudi Arabia.
