On Wednesday, a minor fire broke out at the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) section of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery. The management swiftly contained the incident, describing it as minor and ensuring no significant damage occurred.


Incident Details

Anthony Chiejina, the spokesperson for Dangote Industries Limited, reassured the public in a brief statement, emphasizing that there is no cause for alarm.

“We have swiftly contained a minor fire incident at our Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) today, Wednesday, 26th of June. The refinery is operating normally, and there are no reported injuries or harm to any staff on duty,” Chiejina stated.




About Dangote Refinery

The $20 billion Dangote Refinery, located in Lagos and owned by billionaire Aliko Dangote, commenced operations in December. Initially processing 350,000 barrels of crude oil per day, the refinery aims to reach its full capacity of 650,000 barrels per day by the end of the year.

Current Operations

The refinery has already begun supplying diesel and aviation fuel to marketers in Nigeria, with petrol supply expected to start by mid-July.
