In a decisive operation, Nigerian Army troops neutralized six bandits and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition in Birnin Gwari LGA, Kaduna State. Samuel Aruwan, overseeing Commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs in Kaduna State, confirmed this in a statement.
According
to the statement, troops from Sector 4 Operation Whirl Punch and the 198
Special Forces Battalion conducted special operations in response to precise
intelligence on terrorist activities in the area. The mission involved clearing
hotspots in Maidaro, Ngade Alha, Dogon Dawa, Damari, Saulawa, Farin Ruwa,
Maganda, Sabon Layi, and Kampanin Doka villages.
Upon
arriving at Saulawa, troops engaged the bandits, swiftly neutralizing two of
them and recovering a motorcycle and a Baofeng Radio Set. The troops then
advanced to Farin Ruwa, where they neutralized four more bandits in a
firefight.
The
operation resulted in the recovery of one GPMG, two AK47 rifles, six AK47
magazines, one FN rifle magazine, 22 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 51
rounds of 7.62 special ammunition, and one motorcycle.
Kaduna
State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, commended the troops for their remarkable
success. He praised the efficient collaboration and coordination among the
forces, which was supported by the government. The Governor urged the troops to
continue their relentless advance into the heart of the bandits' enclaves.
This victory marks another significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat banditry in Kaduna State. The successful operation demonstrates the effectiveness of intelligence-led military actions in securing the region.
